Boneau/Bryan-Brown Congratulates Our 2013-2014 Drama Desk Award Nominees

Nominations for the 59th Annual Drama Desk Awards, celebrating excellence in Broadway, Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway, were announced this morning.

BULLETS OVER BROADWAY has been nominated for Outstanding Director of a Musical (Susan Stroman), Outstanding Choreography (Susan Stroman), Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical (Nick Cordero), Outstanding Set Design (Santo Loquasto), Outstanding Costume Design (William Ivey Long), and Outstanding Sound Design (Peter Hylenski).

CASA VALENTINA has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play (Reed Birney).

CHOIR BOY has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play (Chuck Cooper).

THE CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN has been nominated for Outstanding Revival of a Play and Outstanding Actor in a Play (Daniel Radcliffe).

THE EXPLORERS CLUB has been nominated for Outstanding Play and Outstanding Set Design (Donyale Werle).

HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH has been nominated for Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Director of a Musical (Michael Mayer) and Outstanding Actor in a Musical (Neil Patrick Harris).

HOW I LEARNED WHAT I LEARNED has been nominated for Outstanding Solo Performance (Ruben Santiago-Hudson).

KUNG FU has been nominated for Outstanding Choreography (Sonya Tayeh).

THE NIGHT ALIVE has been nominated for Outstanding Play.

NO MAN’S LAND has been nominated for Outstanding Revival of a Play and Outstanding Actor in a Play (Ian McKellen).

NOTHING TO HIDE has been nominated for Unique Theatrical Experience.

THE OLD FRIENDS has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play (Betty Buckley). Additionally, Veanne Cox has won a special award for her ability to express the eccentricities, strengths, and vulnerabilities of a range of characters, and notably for her comedic flair as evidenced in this season’s THE OLD FRIENDS.

THE OPEN HOUSE has been nominated for Outstanding Sound Design (M.L. Dogg). Additionally cast members Hannah Bos, Michael Countryman, Peter Friedman, Danny McCarthy, Carolyn McCormick and playwright Will Eno have been recognized with a special award for their work as an ensemble.

OUTSIDE MULLINGAR has been nominated for Outstanding Play and Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play (Peter Maloney).

THE THREEPENNY OPERA has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical (Laura Osnes).

TWELFTH NIGHT has been nominated for Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Director of a Play (Tim Carroll), and Outstanding Costume Design (Jenny Tiramani).

Not for profit company nominations:

ATLANTIC THEATER COMPANY productions have been honored with two Drama Desk Award nominations, for THE NIGHT ALIVE and THE THREEPENNY OPERA.

MANHATTAN THEATRE CLUB productions have been honored with six nominations including one for CASA VALENTINA, one for CHOIR BOY, two for THE EXPLORERS CLUB, and two for OUTSIDE MULLINGAR.

SIGNATURE THEATRE COMPANY productions have been honored with four Drama Desk Award nominations including one for HOW I LEARNED WHAT I LEANRED, one for KUNG FU, one for THE OLD FRIENDS and one for THE OPEN HOUSE. Additionally, Signature productions have been honored with two special awards include Outstanding Ensemble for the cast and playwright of THE OPEN HOUSE and one THE OLD FRIENDS cast member Veanne Cox.
